bio_ojlMy birth certificate reads, Orlando John Lima, but I'm known by a plethora of nicknames including: Limachips, OJ, Juice, Dale Turner and El Papi Chulo Mas Fantastico. I was raised in New England but I've been living in New York since 1994. This makes rooting for sports teams complicated but that's never stopped me from wearing a Red Sox hat to Yankee Stadium. When I'm not working, I occupy my time with the following activities:

Deejaying I retired from party-rocking awhile ago but I still make mixtapes and practice turntablism (scratching and beat-juggling). Deejaying gives me an excuse to watch Sucker Free Sundays guiltlessly. Staying current on music is the main reason my niece and nephew think I'm the coolest adult they know.

Backgammon This board game of middle-eastern origin combines the two best aspects of chess and cards: strategy and luck. I read books on technique and dice probability. I play with the Doubling Cube. Park players, beach bums and grandparents have all been victimized by my 6-point prime.

Sports I played football and basketball in high school and I've always had love for competition. I shoot hoops every week and I squeeze in running and yoga when time permits. I follow boxing and MMA closely. I root for the New York Jets (J.E.T.S. Jets! Jets! Jets!), the Boston Celtics and the Pawtucket Red Sox.

Teaching I moved to New York to become an English teacher but a public school hiring freeze sent my career in another direction. I've held numerous teaching positions from little league basketball coach to adjunct English professor at a junior college. I give back when I can because teaching makes me feel good about myself.

Yili Art Foundation This 501c3 charity rescues art that would otherwise be destroyed. Artists come to us when they are on the verge of eviction. We recover their art and store it for safekeeping in return for a donation to the foundation. The Yili collection is currently valued at $3 million.
